Laura Kaarlsen

Welcome to the Stardust Studio!

Just Imagine!

Welcome to the Stardust Studio, where we reach for the stars!

My name is Laura Kaarlsen.   I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Environmental Design.    I spent several years working in Architecture and Interior Design before earning my teaching certificate from UTSA in 1999.   I taught 3rd grade for three years at Thornton Elementary and then had the honor of opening Nichols Elementary as the Art teacher in 2002.  I love my job!

In the Stardust Studio, your child will participate in projects which teach the elements and principles of the visual arts.  We will use a variety of media from crayons and paints to clay, textiles, and more.  My goal is that your child have a positive art experience.  I require that they give their best effort and recognize their individual successes!

This museum sits on absolutely gorgeous grounds. Their permanent collection features artwork by Picasso, Monet, and O'Keeffe, to name a few. A word of advice: call ahead to see if space is limited, as sometimes they only have a specific number of spaces available.
