Ms. Jackie Aguirre is the Ballet Company Director at Brandeis High School. She teaches classical ballet, modern, and jazz technique. Ms. Aguirre began her dance training at age eight at Vladimir Marek Ballet Academy under the instruction of Vladimir Marek, Nancy Smith, and Joyce Knapick. She was accepted into the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York City and attended their summer program from 1991-1993. The following summer, Ms. Aguirre studied in Washington, D.C. at the Kirov Academy. After graduating from John Marshall High School, she attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where she performed classical and contemporary repertory as part of the Meadows School of the Arts. Ms. Aguirre earned a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in Psychology and graduated magna cum laude in 1999. She has taught ballet, pointe, lyrical jazz, and Pilates at Performing Arts School of Classical Ballet, as well as directing the magnet dance program at Thomas Jefferson High School from 2000-2006. Ms. Aguirre served as the Dance Director at the Edgewood Academy from 2006-2008, teaching ballet, jazz, and modern as well as sponsoring the dance teams from Kennedy and Memorial High School.

Students will be graded based on active participation in class, physical demonstration of dance techniques, attendance to all dance performances, choreography projects, written work, dance critiques, and both written and movement tests.
