Welcome! My name is Kristin Sorenson Rosario and I am Colby Glass Elementary’s Art Specialist. I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade Art. This is my twelfth year teaching Art here at Glass. I also taught 5th grade before that at St. Paul Catholic School. I am a proud product of NISD—attending Oak Hills Terrace Elementary, Pat Neff Middle School and John Marshall High School. I then earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University with a major in History and a minor in Art. In May 2013, I earned my Masters degree in Art Education from Texas Woman’s University. I am certified to teach Secondary History, Art and Elementary Comprehensive.
Here at Colby Glass, I serve as the Specialists B team leader and am on the Discipline and Attendance and Social Studies committees as well as PTA. I have been awarded 2 NEF grants totally close to $2,000 for art projects-- Soak up the Sun: Solar Powered Art and Helping Hats: Keeping San Antonio Warm. I was voted Teacher of the Year for my campus in 2005. I have also earned Levels I and II certifications through NISD’s Ceramic Enterprise Program and have presented workshops and tours at the Texas Art Educators Association annual state conferences.
Art class is busy here at Glass! I only get to see each student once every six days which comes out to about 28 times per year for a short 45 minutes each time. You will certainly be amazed at your young artist and how much they learn during our time together. Keep checking back often to see what is going on in the world of Art here at Glass.
