Hello, my name is Laura Zimmerman and I will be your child's kindergarten teacher this year.

First of all, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and went to Northside schools from beginning to end.  After high school, I was accepted to Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University) to study early childhood education (my life-long dream).  I graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.  Although, before graduating, I did part of my student teaching semester in London, England at the Arnold House School for Boys.  This adventure led me to expanding my dreams and horizons and finding a permanent teaching position in the United Kingdom.  So, my first year of teaching in 2005-06 was in London at the Windmill Montessori School.  I had a wonderful experience teaching an age range of 2-5 year old children.  While teaching there I learned a lot about myself and about the different teaching styles that can be found around the world.  When I returned to Texas I joined the Northside ISD team and became a 3rd grade teacher at Myers Elementary for the 2006-07 school year.  I enjoyed working at Myers, but when the opportunity opened up to join a brand new school, I couldn't resist!  So, in 2007-08 I joined the staff at Rita K. Driggers Elementary teaching 2nd grade for two years then moving down to Kindergarten in 2009.

I am so happy to be a part of this team and of this school.  I enjoy every moment of my job and love spending time with your children.  Here's to a great year!!
