Welcome to Mrs. West's Web Page

Greetings musical hounds!

hound dog DRIGGERS 2014-2015

Welcome back to another year of learning and making music.  My name is Mrs. Morrissey-West (but you can just call me Mrs. West).  This is my 14th year of teaching music, I hold Master of Music degree, and have extensive training in the Kodaly and Orff-Schulwerk teaching methods.

I hope your child will learn to love music as I do. Learning music is not only fun, it enhances your child's skills in math, reading, science, social studies, and teamwork.  Students in grades kinder through fifth come to music once every six days for 45 mintes.  We move a lot, so comfortable shoes and clothing is a good idea on music days.  Here's a list of what your child will be doing:

  • singing
  • movement/ and folk dancing
  • playing classroom instruments
  • reading, writing, and creating music
  • improvising
  • performing
  • listening to music from various cultures, styles, and periods

I know it will be a wonderful year!
