Hello Driggers Parents!
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Driggers Elementary! As part of the 5th grade collaboration team, Lauren Maier will provide in class support for students in Mrs. Pentz's class.
What exactly is in class support?
In class support is specialized instruction or assistance for students within the general education classroom. Appropriate modifications and accommodations are implemented as determined by the ARD committee. Both general and special education teachers strive to collaborate to ensure that all students make progress toward their educational goals.
For detailed information about school wide events, please visit the site of your child's classroom teacher or our campus homepage.
Ms. Maier's Contact Information
Conference Time: 1:45 - 2:35
The best time to reach me is before or after school via telephone, or during the school day via email.
Your student can access more games/quizzes than ever before! Ask your child to log on using their username and password to access their custom Spelling City account. Students may also review terms from Math and Science. Your child's list can be found under the **This Week's Lists** section, labeled Words Their Way. (Please contact me at email@example.com if you have any questions about log in procedures.)
Your child will complete a spelling activity packet weekly. The packet is broken up into daily assignments and includes an optional, but highly suggested, EXTRA CREDIT assignment. It will be checked for completion daily, and is due Friday.
Spelling Tests are administered Friday morning.
Accelerated Math will be completed during Homework Lab or school hours. Folders are distributed Monday morning and collected/redistributed throughout the week as students complete their assignments. Students are expected to have their folders completed/submitted AT LEAST ONCE by Friday. Accelerated Math assignments are formulated according to your student's current needs, and IEP goals. Their performance on their Accelerated Math assignments will help the ARD commitee determine if sufficient progress has been made on their Mathematics goal.
Folders due by Thursday.
Each Monday, your student will receive a book at their current reading level. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening they will practice reading their book with a parent or capable sibling. Friday morning they will read their book with a teacher and answer comprehension questions. The comprehension quiz will be sent home on Friday evening for you to view and sign.
This program will help your child build upon their existing reading skills, and refine their skills in their areas of need. Your signature in their planner tells me that your student completed their reading requirement for that evening. Please contact me if you have any questions concerning this project.
Reading Folders must be returned Friday Morning.
Homework Lab is available to all students in room A-112 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 7:00 - 7:45. Homework Lab is a place where students can work on missing or incomplete assignments as well as receive tutoring in Math and Reading. Please notify me if you student plans to attend regularly, so that I can prepare the appropriate materials.
