I would like to welcome you to the Warren Fine Arts Department. I am excited about the upcoming year and look foward to seeing you at our Dance Performance on Tusday, January 17, 2014 and Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Warren Auditorium at 7pm.
I started taking dance at the age of 8. I was a cheerleader, twirler, a member of the marching band, and a member of student council for all four year's of high school. I attended McClennan Community College and was a member of the MCC Dance Team. I transfered to Southwest Texas State University and was an active member and officer of the Orchesis Dance Club. I was also a member of the Southwest Texas State Strutters under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Tidwell. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Sports Science with a certification in Dance and Physical Education. I have been a dirctor and teacher for 17 years. This is my sixth year at Warren. I teach all Dance I /Fine Arts classes and serve as the Pep Squad director.
Dancing is my passion. I enjoy teaching students and watching their growth through out the year. Dancing is a way to express yourself through movement. Students that take dance are exposed to different types of dance. They include: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Ballroom, Salsa, Modern Contemorary, and Hip Hop just to name a few. Proper stretching, warm-up and learning proper technique are part of the daily warm-up. Students are expected to dress out everyday, participate, and have fun!
I feel very blessed to be able to teach dance and be a part of the Spirit Organization here at Warren. I want to enstill responsiblity and commitment in all of my students. As a teacher I will do my best to insure all of my students are successful. Let's work together to make this the best year ever.
