Captain Keaney brings 24 years of military service to Warren High School's AFJROTC Program. He entered the Air Force in 1987 and was commissioned through Officer Training School in 2001. He served in the Security Forces, Recruiting and Logistics Career Fields. He was also an instructor at all three technical schools accumulating 12 years of teaching experience. He earned his Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Wayland Baptist University.
Captain Keaney instructs both the AS4 (fourth year cadets) and AS3 (third year cadets). This is a cadet operated corps and thus it is the responsibility of the cadet senior management team to lead, manage and operate the cadet’s corps day-to-day. The AS4 cadets focus on two areas: Leadership Education IV: Principles of Management and Aerospace Science: Survival: Survive and Return. The AS3 cadets focus on Leadership and Education III: Life Skills and Career Opportunities and Aerospace Science: Exploring Space. AS3 cadets also have access to the NEFE financial management program.
Community Service and Curriculum-in-Action Field Trips are an important part of the program. Students are required to earn a minimum of 6 community service hours per six week grading period. Cadets are also encouraged to attend field trips which complement the course of study and help the cadets learn leadership skills and build confidence.
