DJ Vila, Music

Music at Scobee

My name is D.J. Vila and I am thrilled to be teaching music at Scobee this year.   I graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Music Education and have taught general music and choir in both New York and Texas.

I believe that music teachers have the unique opportunity to establish the groundwork for a life long enjoyment of music that will enrich the lives of every student. My goal is to ensure that all students receive a solid musical foundation through traditional folk songs, dances, movement, instrument playing, listening, improvisation, and composition.

Additional Opportunities:

The Challenger Choir is a great way for students to learn more about beautiful singing and sight reading while working together in an ensemble towards musical excellence.   The Challenger Choir is open to all interested 4th and 5th graders.

The Strings Program is open to all 5th graders interested in learning how to play a stringed instrument.
