I am Mr. Garcia. I am a native of the Rio Grande Valley. I grew up in Edinburg and go there often to visit my mother and older brother. I received my Bachelors degree in Education and Masters of Science in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. I have a beautiful wife named Grace and two wonderful children, Aaron and Isabela and we are expecting our daughter, Maria Katarina, to be born any day now.
My job here at Esparza Elementary is to sing, play instruments, and dance. I also try to teach a little. I am very excited about the different things we are learning this year.
Our Kinder and 1st grade are learning folk songs and games. Our older students are working on Rhythm and Pitch. This year we are concentrating on using our real singing voice, which is actually different from what we here a lot on the radio.
Our 3rd graders will be the official School Choir and will perform a couple of times this year. Our 4th graders will be focusing sight reading to get us ready for playing the recorder in January. Our 5th graders are coming along with their music reading and all of them are invited to join the Northside Strings Program which offers every 5th grader in Northside free violin lessons.
We are "WILD ABOUT MUSIC" at Esparza, and are looking forward to a fun and productive year.
