About Ms. Hernandez
My career in education began with my graduation in 1995 fromSouthwestTexasStateUniversityinSan Marcos. I received my Master’s Degree in counseling from theUniversityofTexasatSan Antonio. I had the privilege of helping to openLunaMiddle Schooland it really feels like home away from home.
On a personal note, I was reared in Laredo, Texas, where I was surrounded by a wonderful support network of extended family and close friends. My hometown was a close knit community where I was immersed in the traditions and values of the Hispanic part of my culture. I feel very proud to be both bicultural and bilingual. Although I was happy growing up in Laredoand visit frequently, I much prefer the metropolitan (though small town feel) of San Antonio. Our city has such a rich history and offers a variety of cultural opportunities.
My husband and I were high school and college sweethearts. R.C., my husband is an elementary physical education teacher in Northside. We have three children, 14, 12, and 5 attending Northside schools. R.C. and I have both always loved children, but our experience as parents has been quite beneficial to us in our work with our students.
As we all know, middle school students are at such an interesting juncture in their lives, but with parents and the school teaming together, it can be a positive experience that they will remember fondly.
