Classroom News

Welcome to 5th Grade! We are off to a great start, and we had a very successful first week of school. Please remember to initial your student's Hurricane Pride Folder daily, and please talk to them about what they are learning and doing in class. Our first spelling/vocabulary did not go so well for some students - please make sure that your student is studying their spelling/vocabulary words during the week for their test on each Friday.

No Excuses University

Tiger

WE HAVE TIGER PRIDE!

Hatchett Elementary is participating in the No Excuses University Program. We are promoting a hardworking college atmosphere at our school and working to excite students about attending college after high school graduation. Each classroom at our school has adopted a different university in the United States. I adopted Clemson University, which is located in Clemson, South Carolina. Clemson's mascot is the tiger and their colors are purple and orange.

About Your Teacher

I have been teaching at Hatchett Elementary since it opened in 2004, and I have taught both fourth and fifth grades. I love teaching fifth grade because fifth grade is the bridge that crosses students from elementary school to middle school. I work hard to teach my students how to be independent, organized, and successful to help them be better prepared for middle school and beyond. I was very honored to be named Hatchett Elementary's New Teacher of the Year for 2004-2005, and Hatchett Elementary's Teacher of the Year for 2011-2012. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction in Integrated Science from Our Lady of the Lake University.
