No Excuses University

Tiger

WE HAVE TIGER PRIDE!

Hatchett Elementary is participating in the No Excuses University Program again this year. We are promoting a hardworking college atmosphere at our school and working to excite students about attending college after high school graduation. Each classroom at our school has adopted a different university in the United States. I adopted Clemson University, which is located in Clemson, South Carolina. Clemson's mascot is the tiger and their colors are purple and orange.

About Your Teacher

I have been teaching at Hatchett Elementary since it opened in 2004, and I have taught both fourth and fifth grades. I really love teaching fifth grade because I feel that fifth grade is the bridge that crosses students from elementary school to middle school. I work hard to teach my students how to be independent, organized, and successful students to help them be better prepared for middle school and beyond. I was very honored to be named Hatchett Elementary's New Teacher of the Year for 2004-2005, and Hatchett Elementary's Teacher of the Year for 2011-2012. I received my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and I am currently earning my Master's Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.

On a personal note, my husband is a fire fighter for New Braunfels Fire Department, and we have a son who is currently in the first grade. I love hanging out with my family, playing video games with my son, reading books, drinking coffee, taking photographs, and I am also an animal lover - we have three cats and two dogs.
