Ruth Aguirre is a former J.B. Passmore panther. The John Jay High School graduate received a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas State University, a Performer’s Certificate from Trinity College-London, a Master of Music degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and is currently pursuing a Master of Educational Administration degree from Lamar University. Ms. Aguirre has studied World Music Drumming with Will Schmidt, completed Level 1 in Kodaly pedagogy, acquired numerous hours of training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and received both Level 3 and master level certifications in Orff-Schulwerk. In her fourteenth year as a music specialist at J.B. Passmore Elementary, her duties include teaching music to grade levels kinder through fifth, teaching an after school choir, and teaching the strings program created by a VH-1 Save the Music Foundation Grant. Ms. Aguirre also teaches clarinet and bass clarinet lessons to high school students, and her students have successfully earned positions in the Texas Music Educators Association region, area, and all-state bands, as well as university scholarships and admission into university schools of music.
