Mrs. Young, Librarian

 Remember to read

every day  to be the Best you can Be!!   pic

I was born in Houston, Texas many years ago and moved to San Antonio when I was 12 years old.  I graduated from Churchill High School and Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University).  I taught school until marrying my husband and then traveled for 22 years stationed at bases in the U.S. and overseas where I taught various grade levels.  I became a Librarian and began working at Lackland City in October 1999.  I have now been at LCE for 14 years and love working with the amazing staff and students!

I have a son Thomas and a daughter Stephanie.  Between them they have blessed me with 4 grandsons.  I absolutely love being a grandmother to these loveable and active little boys!!

Reading is my favorite past time.  I encourage everyone to read every day!  The more you read the better reader you will become.  Through books you can slay dragons, visit other countries, solve mysteries, learn facts about any topic you want, and more!  Reading will take you to fantastic places and can entertain you for hours.

I enjoy reading aloud to the students as they come into the library.  I hope to instill a life-long love of reading in our students as there is no better gift I can give them.  I believe the library must be a relaxing, non-threatening, comfortable, and fun place for both children and their parents!  Parents are welcome to visit us any time during the day to check out books to read to your children at home.
