A little information about me:
I am delighted to begin my fourth year as principal of Murray E. Boone Elementary School. I have worked in Northside since 2000, when I began teaching kindergarten at Colby Glass Elementary. (An interesting coincidence: My mother-in-law taught first grade there in the sixties when Mr. Glass was principal and the school was Sunset Hills Elementary. I was called to interview for the kindergarten position on her birthday.) I taught kindergarten at Glass for 2 years, then moved to fourth grade where I taught for 4 years. During 2006-07, I served as administrative intern for Beard E.S. and Krueger E.S. The next year, I became the vice principal at Dr. Winn Murnin Elementary and served in that position until coming to Boone.
Before coming to Northside, I enjoyed a variety of educational experiences from teaching two year olds to teaching college level students, as well as serving as an administrator for the Human Development Laboratory Nursery School at the University of Houston and as director of a large church-sponsored day care center and preschool in Kerrville, Texas. I am certified to teach PreK through fourth grades, Home Economics 6-12 and ESL. I taught kindergarten for 10 years before coming to Northside. Our family consists of our two daughters, one son-in-law, two amazing grandchildren, two dogs and five cats.
A little information about Boone:
Boone Elementary enjoys an outstanding reputation in Northside. I am very happy to have the opportunity to continue a long tradition of excellence. Our theme this year is "Boone Elementary, Campus of Champions." We are continuing our study of Doug Lemov's book, Teach Like A Champion: 49 Techniques That Put Students on the Path to College. Teachers are incorporating more depth and complexity into their instruction. Every year the state has "raised the bar" of academic achievement for public education, and every year our school district and our school meet the challenge. This year will be no different. The administration and staff at Boone Elementary are looking forward to a fantastic school year! A Championship Year!
