Welcome

About Miss Perez

Hello, my name is Melissa Perez.  I am one of the second grade teachers at McDermott Elementary.  I have been teaching children for 5 years.  I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from UTSA and am a certified Early Childhood (EC-4th grade) teacher.  I love all subject areas, but my favorite subject is science (more specifically plate tectonics and the solar system).  I also have a high interest in forensics.

I have a great love of all children.  Amongst our regular academic goals, I do directly teach children social and behavioral skills that are needed for students to work and cooperate with others in today's society.  These skills are essential for children to be successful not just in the classroom and acadmically, but also throughout their lives as well.
