Ms. Gill, Music

Welcome

Music Rocks!

Welcome back to a new school year! I have been here many years at Meadow Village Elementary.  I like to incorporate many areas of music in my classroom using movement, singing, and games.  Students will explore on drums, xylophones, unpitched percussion, voice, and much more.  My goal at Meadow Village is that every child learns to appreciate and enjoy music! I look forward to an exciting school year and can't wait to share my love of music with your children!

Learn to play the violin!

All 5th grade students are invited to learn a stringed instrument.  Classes will begin Sept. 11th and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the music room.  Students will fill out a registration form if interested.  5th grade teachers will have forms.  I have a few school instruments available first come, first serve.  Instruction and books are provided.  Hope to see you there!

Who is Ms. Gill?

Hello, my name is Joyce Gill and I am the music specialist.  I earned a bachelors degree in music education from UTSA in 1995.  My musical background is violin, viola, and guitar.    I've been teaching music for 19 years.  I previously taught middle school Orchestra.  When I'm not at school, I like to create mosaic art work and work in my garden.   I have 4 very spoiled cats:  Bob, Sylver, John John, and Beaker.

Drum Line 2014

Each school year, 5th graders are invited to join our annual MVE Drum Line.  These selected students based on a drum audition will create a drum ensemble for our PTA performance in May.  Drum practices will be a requirement; drum practice schedules will be available before auditions.  Audition times and locations will be announced in March 2014.  Let's rock!

Free Instruments!

Ms. Gill received $640 for musical instruments from the Texas Music Educators Association.  We will be receiving 3 green and yellow Djembes, 2 sets of congas and stands, and 2 large tubanos.
