What I Believe

I believe people only choose to fail because they are afraid to succeed.

I believe once a student tastes success, they will desire more.

I believe in "please", "thank you", and common courtesy.

I believe we all fall short at one point in time or another.

I believe in giving more chances than are deserved.

I believe every student is a valuable person.

The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock excerpt from Bartleby.com

And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?”
Time to turn back and descend the stair,
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair—
[They will say: “How his hair is growing thin!”]
My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,
My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin—
[They will say: “But how his arms and legs are thin!”]
Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

About me:

Bio

After almost twenty years in the restaurant industry, including almost a decade as a General Manager at Olive Garden, I decided to make a change and go back to school.  Quickly I discovered a love for education, specifically English.  I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in English and an accompanying Certification in Education.  I was very grateful to start my career at O'Connor High School in December of 2006.  I am very proud to have been both a First Year Teacher of the Year in 2007 and Teacher of the Year in 2013.  In my spare time I am a mountain bike enthusiast and a TaeKwonDo blackbelt.  I am also proud of my two children, Ben and Morgan, who are students at O'Connor and Brandeis respectively.  Finally, I can not say enough wonderful things about my wife of almost twenty years, Emily, with whom "I think my love as rare as any she belied with false compare" (Shakespeare "Sonnet 130")
