Ruiz, SMSgt Antonio

Welcome

Aerospace Science One

Welcome to the Texas-793rd Air Force Junior ROTC program.  I'm Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) Antonio Ruiz and am in charge of teaching first-year cadets.  I cover subjects such as uniform wear, drill, customs and courtesies, personal behavior, citizenship, and the history of our flag and how to fold it.  I coach the Awareness Presentation Team, Choir, Saber Team and our three drill teams:  Junior Varsity Unarmed Silver Wings, Varsity Unarmed Silver Valor, and Varsity Armed Centurion Guard Drill Teams.  I retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years and seven months of service.  While there, I served as an Administrative Specialist, Postal Clerk, Student Training Advisor, and Master Military Training Instructor.  My last assignment was in Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base as the Training Superintendent of the the 322nd Training Squadron.  My office number is (210)397-5247 and my email address is antonio.ruiz@nisd.net.

One important note to parents, guardians, and students:  Junior ROTC is not the type of course that a student can peek into quickly and make an honest assessment about liking it or not.  In order to make a proper decision about staying or quitting, you'd have to experience the enitre year.  We concern ourselves with the "Whole Person" concept.  We try to enhance a student's self-esteem, feeling of belonging, and personal appearance.  Our motto is simple:  "Build better citizens for America" by allowing cadets to succeed in several areas of competition, help the school and community through activities, and promote academic exellence and opportunities for scholarships.  Our mission is to develop citizens of character, dedicated to serving their nation and community.
