Hello, my name is Shelley Schultz and I am a second grade teacher here at Virginia Myers Elementary School. Briefly, I would like to give you a little background information about myself. First of all, I am a hometown girl born and raised right here in San Antonio. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two sons that have grown up to be fine young men that we are proud of. We have a precious grand-daughter.
In January of 1975, I began my teaching career in the San Antonio Independent School District. After eleven years there, I transferred to the Northside Independent School District where we lived and my children attended school. During my career, I have taught Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten, First and Second grades. Often I am asked what has been my favorite grade to teach and my reply is always the same. ALL of THEM! Why you ask? Each grade and age offers their own special characteristics and qualities. Pre-kinders and kindergarteners are adorable and so anxious to learn and participate in all activities. There is nothing like watching a first grader blossom from an emergent to an independent reader. Second graders grow, refine their skills and become self-sufficient little individuals.
The years pass by swiftly and each fills another chapter in my book of teaching experiences.
