Welcome to the
Hobby Counseling Department!
In partnership with parents, teachers, administration and the community, the Hobby Counseling Department is dedicated to serving all students with the purpose of helping them build personal assets, character, and life skills, which together will help them become successful citizens.
Our Guidance and Counseling Program consists of four components: Guidance, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support. We meet with students in the classroom, individually, or in small groups. We positively believe all students can accomplish academic, social, and personal success with the support of the counseling department.
Throughout the year we will post information on this page regarding various upcoming community events, as well as resources and articles we feel you may find useful. Come back and visit often for the most up-to-date news from the counseling department, and please, never hesitate to contact a counselor if needed. We look forward to working with you!
**Elective Change Request Window 9/8/14 to 9/10/14
The window to request an elective change for the 2014-2015 school year will be Monday, September 8th - Wednesday, September 10th. We ask that any requests for an elective change be held until this time in order to allow counselors to create schedules for our newly registered students and address necessary changes in academic classes.
Starting Monday, September 8th, students and parents can pick up an elective change request form from the Hobby counseling office. Forms are due to the counseling office by 4:00PM on Wednesday, September 10th and will require a parent/guardian signature. Requests are granted based on class availability and effect on core classes, with lateral moves (added course offered during same class period as dropped course) given primary consideration. Changes are not guaranteed.
