TSI EXAM Registration:

To register for TSI exam on February 22nd or 24th please send your child with the $12 test fee by February 21, 2014 to Mrs. Bloom in the Counseling office.

What is Dual Credit?

  • Offers high school credit(s) toward graduation and college credit(s) toward a degree.

  • Classes are taught by Taft teachers and are held at both high school and college campuses.

  • Saves parents and students considerable amounts on college costs. (Average tuition, fees and books at local community college = $1000 for 6 hours)

  • Shortens the length of time to complete a degree program.

  • Students are allowed access to Northwest Vista and Alamo Community College services, events and facilities.


Who is a Dual Credit student?

  • 11th or 12th grade student (10th grade students require special admittance form)

  • Self-directed, motivated, and has good time management skills

  • Recognizes the importance of an education and saving money

  • Enjoys lively discussions and group interaction

  • Takes pleasure in reading and learning

  • Willing to work hard on the challenging curriculum


Dual Credit Checklist

  • Complete AlamoENROLL—Ready Set Apply (Once application is processed you will receive 4 emails—one from ApplyTexas and three from Alamo Colleges. The first Alamo Colleges email will include instructions for ACES and AlamoENROLL START HERE tab.)

  • Transcript verification will be done by your high school liaison.

  • Login to your ACES—once you have received your letter from Alamo Colleges go to https://aces.alamo.edu/ andfind the start here tab (if you don't know your login information click on tutorial)

  • Complete Go FAAR and Test Prep modules (mandatory for testing and admission)

  • Register for TSI test

  • Complete and turn in registration packet to Mrs. Bloom in Counseling office ON OR BEFORE February 14, 2014

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish 3

MATH: Pre-Calculus

COURSES OFFERED AT TAFT HS FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS (MAX 2 PER YEAR):

MATH: Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, College Algebra (ISM Math)

SCIENCE: Environmental Science and Biology II

ENGLISH: English 2 and English 3

HISTORY: United States History

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish 3
